Comic Books haven’t appeared in a jiffy. The atomic explosions, android metal suits, gamma-ray giant, shadowy experiments didn’t plan to appear as a graphic novel all of a sudden. Even, there were different versions to express creative thoughts. Then why comic books? This plan has been evolving for 75 years. The progress of evolution was steady enough to show the readers future earth in their comics.
Journey Of Comic Books From Beginning
The first comics appeared in the newspaper in the decades of 1930. The newspapers printed some old popular comic strips in order to make this genre take birth again. Those poor products cannot be claimed as an example of high art.
Classification Of Comic Books: Children’s And Adult’s
But the journey had begun despite the low quality of printing and editing. That journey has been flourished by the ancestors of the comics artists at a massive level. Even almost 20 years ago, there are only two divisions of the comics. One was the children’s graphic novels. Mickey Mouse, Lucky Luke, fell in that genre. On the other hand, there were comic strips on James Bond and other pulp detectives. The editors of the newspapers tagged them as the adult comics.
But gradually the comic books evolved themselves to another different genre: Young-Adult. Marvel and DC – the most renowned comic book series of the current time fall in the genre of Young-Adult series. If you have a close look at the characters of Bruce Wayne, Tony Stark, Black Widow, even Thanos and Joker will do, the development of the character has been done in a very matured manner. Even, the young adult children can get different life lessons from these series as well.
Here is a list of some Young Adult novels from the United States:
- Captain America
- Wonder Woman
- It Rhymes With Lust
- God’s Man
- Marge’s Little Lulu
- Two-Fisted Tales
- Mad (this was considered as a parody of Superman)
- Desperate Dane
- Winker Watson
And this has been so much famous in the current time that different comic book fans often indulge in a quarrel about the inspiration to create a character. They often claim that an old character has influenced a new comic artist for creating a new character. We might mention one very famous discussion about that. The fans of DC often say that Stan Lee created his immortal character Tony Stark, aka Iron Man after being inspired by Bruce Wayne, aka Batman.
When the comic books were gradually developing in the United States, there was another country that was developing themselves about the comic book. Guess the country? Obviously it is Japan! The comic book series of Japan is famous in the name of Manga. If you say that you have Iron Man, Captain America, Flash, Superman, Green Lantern, your Japanese friend will name of Doraemon, Naruto, Kakashi, Light Yagami, Detective L, etc. It is needless to mention that the manga is not only meant for mere entertainment. Besides that, the manga shows the dark psychology of different characters as well.
